After capturing the 2011 Indy Lights championship, Josef Newgarden began his IndyCar career with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing. 2016 will mark his fifth year with the same crew as he has competed under the SFHR, CFH Racing, and now Ed Carpenter Racing banners. 2015 was a breakout season for the Tennessee native, as he won his first race just four events into the year at Barber Motorsports Park. Mid-season, he led his teammate to the team’s first ever 1-2 finish in the streets of Toronto. Newgarden followed up his first career pole position at Milwaukee with two more podium finishes at Iowa and Pocono. He entered the final race of the year as a championship contender, finishing 7th. Now 25, Newgarden started racing at only age 13 when he began in a kart at New Castle Motorsports Park.
