Story Slam: Real Life Stories of the Power of Education.

At this event, you’ll get to step into real life stories through dramatic presentations of education’s power to foster change. You will hear powerful stories from students and educators alike, including:
– Celeste Williams, School on Wheels Tutor
– Wes Coker, College and Career Readiness Coach at The Excel Center—Noblesville
– Dawn Walker-Seyerle, Social Studies Teacher at Arsenal Technical High School
– Ronak Shah, 7th Grade Science Teacher at KIPP Indy Public Schools
– Casey McLeod, Science Teacher at KIPP Indy Public Schools.

School on Wheels is collaborating with CHIP to provide a powerful, museum-like art experience filled with educational vignettes and audio/video stories from individuals experiencing homelessness in Indy. Combining audio, video, and tactile components, Homeless Voices immerses the visitor in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis. Stations include personal videos of individuals sharing their stories, replicated structures found in homeless camps, and other interactive/educational opportunities. Visitors will also learn about the crisis of homelessness in our community and how they can get involved. School on Wheels will have a special Virtual Reality Experience one night only during First Friday on November 3 from 6 pm – 10 pm at the Tube!
