Tutors in Action is an academic intervention program that provides one-on-one tutoring to children experiencing homelessness throughout Indianapolis. School on Wheels brings more than 400 volunteers to nine partner shelter locations and four public schools, and provides tutoring sessions to the children at these facilities up to four times each week.
School on Wheels seeks to recruit, train and place new volunteers for the fall 2016 school semester to provide tutoring to youth experiencing homelessness. To become a School on Wheels tutor, you must be at least 11 years of age. Ages 11-13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tutors are asked to commit to one hour each week for a 15-17 week semester. A wide variety of locations and times throughout Indianapolis are available.
