Wishlist Wednesday: School Uniforms

Did you know that one of the biggest battles children impacted by homelessness face is school attendance? While 87% of homeless youth are enrolled in school, only 77% of them attend school regularly. This can be for any number of reasons, all of which we strive to address as we help families navigate the educational system through our programs.

One key way we help ensure regular attendance is to provide two complete school uniforms to every child in our program who needs them. This means we meet each child’s specific school uniform needs (colors, embroidery, etc.), and each uniform is purchased with a child’s specific size in mind.

The children we serve are anywhere from kindergarteners to seniors. This means that this year we’ve purchased children’s small all the way up to men’s XXL. We get so many new children in our program over the course of a school year that uniform needs don’t end after the school year ends. In fact, our uniform needs are growing.

To continue providing our students with school uniforms, we need your help. Luckily, it’s super easy to support our kids and School on Wheels by helping provide us with uniforms! Check out our Amazon Wishlist and read the descriptions listed with each item. You can then order different items we need, or even a gift card to help us purchase them, and they’ll be shipped right to our office! It’s such a simple way to help our students; we truly couldn’t do what we do without all of you.

Don’t forget to choose School on Wheels Corp. as your charity of choice on Amazon Smile so .5% of your purchase helps students experiencing homelessness achieve academic success.
