Program Coordinator

School on Wheels is seeking a part-time (15 hours/week) Program Coordinator to manage the tutoring hour at two of our school sites. The position requires working with youth and their families, adult volunteer tutors, and school systems to provide educational support to our students.

Duties: The Program Coordinator oversees the after-school tutoring hour, takes attendance, logs attendance in an online database, helps tutors with provided educational materials and activities whenever necessary, and communicates between the staff at each site, the volunteer tutors, and School on Wheels staff to make sure the students’ needs are being met. The Program Coordinator will also connect with teachers and parents to ensure all students are receiving an optimal educational experience during our tutoring time.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will have a bachelors’ degree in education, social work, sociology, non-profit management, or a similar field. Candidates should also have a background working with underserved youth, in social work, or in education/classroom teaching.

The candidate must be able to oversee their tutoring hours, conduct administrative tasks, and attend a set biweekly meeting with their manager (often held at the School on Wheels office). For the full job description, click here.

Curriculum Specialist

School on Wheels is seeking a part-time (25 hours/week) Curriculum Specialist to provide programmatic support by creating and maintaining program curriculum/tool-kit, educational workshops, and technology applications, as well as manage the tutoring hour at two of our school sites. The position requires working with youth and their families, adult volunteer tutors, and school systems to provide educational support to our students.

Duties: The Curriculum Specialist will work with the program team to create and maintain program curriculum, carry out quality standards for all programming, as well as take a lead role in the implementation of the kindergarten readiness pilot program. The Curriculum Specialist will provide management of the tutoring hour at two school-based sites by working directly with students, tutors, parents, and partner staff, and will work as an advocate for education, providing academic support for families experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will have a bachelors’ degree in education, social work, sociology, non-profit management, or a similar field, as well as knowledge and experience with curriculum development and Indiana Academic Standards. Candidates should also have a background working with underserved youth, in social work, or in education/classroom teaching. Knowledge of Early Childhood Development a plus.
