In case you haven’t heard, we have a little thing going on right now: Share the Love! Every February, we are excited for our #SharetheLoveIndy campaign, which allows us to mobilize our awesome network of supporters (all of you!) to help us spread the word and raise funds to impact homeless students in Indianapolis.

The goal of this year’s Share the Love campaign is to raise $25,000, which would cover the cost of tutoring the 100 students we see in an average month for the rest of the school year! And to help make an even bigger impact, our friends at RTV6 and the Scripps Howard Foundation will match all funds raised, up to our goal.

We are excited to announce that we are well on our way – we’ve already raised over $10,000, which would not have been possible without the support of so many members of the Indianapolis community. In addition to simply making a donation, many of our supporters are  helping #SharetheLoveIndy in creative ways, which we hope will inspire you!

Anna Saul

For the last two years, we’ve been fortunate to have the support of one of St. Pius X Catholic School’s Kaizens (clubs) that encourages middle school students to learn about nonprofits in Indianapolis and make a difference in the local community. Karen, our Education Director, leads the School on Wheels Kaizen and shared with the students in her group about Share the Love!

One of the Kaizen members, Anna Saul, has gone above and beyond. Since mid-January, she’s been creating videos to let her family and friends know that she’s fundraising for Share the Love – in an adorable British accent! Her goal is to raise $1,000, so she can pay for tutoring for one of our students for an entire year. Check out her latest video below.

If Anna has inspired you (or just made you laugh), make a donation in her name and we’ll let her know. We love it when kids help kids!

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School

Each week, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School chooses a local organization for their 400 students to support through their outreach program. We are so honored to have been chosen as IHM’s outreach campaign for this week, February 6! During school this week, the students will watch our new animation to get a better understanding of what we do and learn more about Share the Love. After learning more about family homelessness in Indianapolis, students will bring in a monetary donation to support our programs and the students we serve this Friday! We truly appreciate the support, and can’t wait to report on their results.

Are you interested in having your child’s school get involved during #SharetheLoveIndy? Please contact Amber Ewing, our Development Director, to let us know!

One of the best ways to give back to a great cause is to eat some fantastic food. One of our Development Committee Members, Doug Carpenter, knows this better than anyone, and decided to bring all of his TCC coworkers to Rockstone for a meeting and give back meal! Rockstone Pizzeria & Pub Fishers Giveback Day is Wednesday, February 22, and you can enjoy some pizza that benefits our kids too!

We have lots of other great giveback events as well. Check out the full calendar here

Facebook Fundraisers: Kris Chaney

kris chaney fundraiser picEvery year, we ask our tutors to engage their friends to raise $100 to support the student they tutor for a month, but this year, we’re trying a new avenue – Facebook fundraisers! And so far, it’s been a smashing success! Kris Chaney, one of our Development Committee members and long-time tutors, was one of the first to put up his Facebook fundraiser, and he’s set an ambitious goal – to raise $3,000 to support our students during #SharetheLoveIndy!

Have a Facebook account? Check out Kris’ fundraiser here and consider setting up your own Facebook fundraiser!

Do you have another creative way that you’re giving back? We’d love to hear it – let us know in the comments below!

Not feeling creative? That’s okay! You can always make a donation to support the campaign.
