To kick off the tutoring hour, our students take a few minutes and do a writing prompt that helps them get focused. Before the holiday break began, students were given the writing prompt of “what are you thankful for?”

In Indianapolis, 29% of families experiencing homelessness are fleeing domestic violence and nationally nearly 50% of homeless children may not have access to regular meals. Many of the kiddos we serve are experiencing things that most of us can’t even imagine, but they greet each day with a smile on their face and find so much to be thankful for, as evidenced by these wonderful answers to the writing prompt.
