Every few months, we’ll be introducing you to a new School on Wheels staff member so you can learn more about the people who make our programs run successfully! This month, we’re highlighting Brian Craig, one of our Program Coordinators.

I’m a Program Coordinator for both STAR programs at Brookside School 54 and Washington Irving School 14. I also serve as Program Coordinator for the after school tutoring program at Washington Irving School 14.

I was a teacher, then I became a stay-at-home dad and parenting blogger before joining the School on Wheels team.

I was a tutor for the STAR program last year, and loved it.

I like interacting with, and planning lessons for early elementary ages kids. Teaching kids to read is a really exciting part of my job.

It’s fun having kids that don’t want to start the day, but then they don’t want to leave once they get started.

I wrote a book about my life as a stay-at-home dad called, “Lone Pair of Blue Jeans in a Sea of Yoga Pants,”

Our hope is to expand the STAR (Striving Towards Academic Readiness) Program into more schools in the future!

Thanks, Brian! Be sure to stay tuned to meet the rest of the staff in the coming months.
