Below is an update to our March 9 COVID-19 response.
School on Wheels operates with the support of 400 + community volunteer tutors who help our staff serve hundreds of children in 17 shelter and school partner sites each week. In order to ensure the safety of our volunteers, partners, students, families, and employees, we have made the decision to suspend our tutoring program at all school and shelter locations until further notice. Our staff continue to work with our our clients and partners remotely to serve as a resource during this time.
We thank you for your commitment to our kids and families and believe pausing direct service will allow us to work more closely with our Board of Directors, school districts, and partners as we actively monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and follow protocols and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Indiana State Department of Health, Governor Eric Holcomb, and Mayor Joe Hogsett. Our goal is to keep our community healthy, while remaining committed to our mission.
